Common Questions

What is the difference between single-mode and multi-mode fiber?
Single-mode fiber (SMF) uses a smaller core and supports much longer distances — often 10km to 40km — at higher speeds. Multi-mode fiber (MMF) is typically used for shorter intra-building runs up to 400 meters at 10G or 100G. We'll recommend the right type based on your distances, speed requirements, and budget.
How long does a typical fiber backbone installation take?
Most single-building backbone projects take 1–3 days. Multi-building campus projects with underground conduit runs typically take 3–10 business days depending on distance, trench complexity, and permitting requirements. We provide a detailed timeline in your fixed-price proposal.
Do you handle underground conduit and trenching?
Yes. We can install direct-burial armored fiber, pull fiber through existing conduit, or coordinate with qualified excavation specialists for trenching — all included in your fixed-price proposal.
What testing do you perform after installation?
Every fiber installation receives end-to-end OTDR testing, insertion loss testing, and visual fault locator inspection. All results are included in your project documentation package.
Can you splice into or extend an existing fiber plant?
Yes. We can extend existing fiber runs, repair damaged cables, or migrate your old fiber to new hardware. We'll test the existing plant first and document the full current state before any work begins.
